So just how far have 3D printers come? We hear all sort of gimics; but maybe we are further along than we realized. The Glowforge 3D printer is in essence a 3D laser cutter meaning it doesn’t actually build blocks or lay down materials so we aren’t quite at the point of ordering a soccer ball on Amazon and having it print/appear right there on our desks! Glowforge does however print on dozens of materials apparently with an engrave precision to the width of a human hair. It can cut paper, wood and even things like chocolate safely. You can see your yourself their long list of examples of the types of things you can make from personalized skins for laptops, leather satchels and wallets, engraved glass, clothing designs, to ornaments and more.
