Microsoft has had it’s share of problems but what would you say if I told you the Surface Pro 4 might just be the rebirth of Microsoft? I’ve had several laptops across several platforms over the last 15 years but was never 100% satisfied with finding an all-in-one device. If you are a fan of the Microsoft OS (I personally love Windows 7 and 10) then you will be in for a real treat with the new Surface Pro 4 (or 3 for that matter – in fact I have the Surface Pro 3 and am completely enamored by it). So what’s so great about it? Well in a quick nutshell … the keyboard has a full-size, super comfortable and aerodynamic feel, the screen itself is big enough to work from but you can also use their dock or (as I do) a little multi USB hub to plug in an external monitor.

The REAL kicker is that I use this device for absolutely everything from a fully useful desktop computer running multiple heavy apps (Photoshop, Chrome with multi tabs) and it works perfectly. I use it as a magazine and book reading tablet on the couch and feel little or no weight when I bring it on a plane or even over to the coffee shop. The sleek kick stand and impressive boot time from the pre-installed Windows 10 means I can be working at full tilt one moment and then up and gone the next. Are there any negatives you ask? Honestly not really other than a mild hissing from the fan that doesn’t make the tablet entirely silent (I don’t notice it) and the fact that Windows apps in general perhaps don’t compare to the Apple app availability. All in all though, truly impressive stuff Microsoft, now a true leader in the tablet/portable-desktop all-in-one solution world. Check out the specs from CNET.
